If you do not feel good about yourself or have insecurities, you are not alone. This has been a common theme with so many people I’ve spoken with since starting coaching. According to the National Science Foundation, an average person has 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts a day. Of those, 80% are negative and 95% are repeated (meaning you think the same negative thoughts over and over). If you want to better manage stress, feel better about yourself and your relationships, have better health and wellness, and move forward in reaching your personal and professional goals, then positive thinking is a must. It doesn’t mean ignoring bad things, but it means making a choice to not let the bad control or dominate your thoughts. The reason this is so important is because our thoughts control our feelings which control our actions (so important to remember).
If you struggle with thinking positively, the first step for change is becoming aware of what you are thinking. Then, for every negative thought, force yourself to counter it with a positive thought. Again, not dismissing the negative but looking for the positive. This change in perspective will eventually become habit so your thoughts automatically become more balanced and positive.
We all have a choice to suffer from negativity or thrive from positivity. As Gandhi says, ” A man is but a product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes”.
If negativity is keeping you from becoming the person you want to be, now is a great time to end that cycle. If you need some support, I would love to help you. I can be reached at 850.291.7124 or coach@mariavigodsky.com.
