Have You Tried This Fountain Of Youth?

“Stress Management”. Seriously, that’s it. Plain and simple. If you manage and reduce your stress, you have a better chance to live a longer and healthier life. Easier said than done when life is stressful, right? A physician recently told me that unmanaged stress in your 40’s and 50’s can lead to the early onset of disease in your 60’s. That’s concerning considering we all experience stress in our lives – and I’m already in my 50’s!

It’s important to recognize stress that can be dangerous to your well-being. Here are some common symptoms from unmanaged stress – insomnia or sleeping too much, muscle tension or pain, headaches, gastrointestinal problems, fatigue, anxiety, and changes in weight, mood, or energy. Of course, medical and psychological conditions may also cause these symptoms so it’s important to look at your lifestyle and habits to better assess the culprit.

Here are my favorite top ten stress buster tips:

1. Seek support from loved ones or a social network group
2. Exercise regularly
3. Eat well – less sugar
4. Practice deep breathing, meditation, guided imagery
5. Go outside for some fresh air
6. Get proper sleep – adults, on average, need 7-9 hours
7. Time management – delegate, avoid procrastination, etc.
8. Mindfulness (think positively – mind over matter)
9. Spirituality & prayer
10. Don’t be afraid to seek help from a professional –
physician, counselor, or coach.
