How Old is Too Old to Live Alone

The good news is -it’s not your number of years that automatically determines when or if you are too old to live alone. After all, there are individuals who may get Alzheimer’s in their 30’s and 40’s requiring them to have additional support and yet there are plenty of individuals in their 90’s, my dad included, who are managing to live alone safely, effectively and happily.

Bottom line, there is no set number that is too old to live alone as long as an individual is safe, able to carry out activities of daily living (please see link below with some ADL assessments) and maintain a social network. Hopefully, we can all enjoy home sweet home as long as possible.
